Yle has revealed today the artists and song informations for the six (out of 426 submissions) that made the #UMK20 final on March 7 in Tampere. The songs will be made public one by one starting next Friday - a rather bizarre idea since the first one comes out on Friday, then from Monday to Friday again so one song gets eights days more out-there time compared to the last one - and the artists aren't all totally unknown except one or maybe two. Among the songwriters also some very well known and succesful ones. So far so good.... Below the titles what the UMK jury said about the song in short summary.
I will present the artists better one by one when their songs are released.
Tika - I let my heart break
(Neea Jokinen/Timo Oiva/Oliver@I-One Music/Lotus Wang/Sami Tamminen/Kalle Mäkipelto)
"Big Bond-esque power ballad. International production standards with Tika's great voice and bubbly personality."
Erika Vikman - Cicciolina
(Janne Rantala/Mika Laakkonen/Erika Vikman/Saskia Vanhalakka)
Finnish disco with lyrics filled with sexual double meanings à la Kikka in the 90's. The production team knows the core of Finnishness, and this could become an evergreen pop hit.
Aksel Kankaanranta - Looking back
(Joonas Angeria/Whitney Phillips/Connor McDonough/Riley McDonough/Toby McDonough)
This could be a worldwide top-10 hit by Sam Smith or James Arthur. Great production by Joonas Angeria and wonderful vocals by Aksel.
F3M (pronounced FEM) - Bananas
(Olli Äkräs/Hanna Ollikainen/Rafael Elivuo)
"2000's power pop a Gwen Stefani and Britney Spears meets today's Blackpink and Little Mix. A lot of positive energy and every second filled with production's pop hooks."
Sansa - Lover view
(Sansa/Yotto/Anton Sonin)
"Finnish DJ stars Yotto and Anton Sonin meet classic Scandinavian pop diamond in Sansa's voice. This would fit into any cool festival nicely."
Catharina Zühlke – Eternity
(Marcia Sondeihker/Poel Rats/Josefin Myrberg/Henrik Tala/Catharina Zühlke)
"An Eurovision precision strike by the books: moving story, growing melody and stunning voals all blend in nicely. Henrik Tala co-wrote last year's public's winner by Keiino for Norway, now he does it for his native Finland."
