65th Festival della canzone Italiana di Sanremo kicks off tonight and I will we live blogging all five nights for you. Tonight's guests include Tiziano Ferro, Albano and Romina Power and Imagine Dragons. For the stand up comic we have Napoletan Alessandro Siani. Tonight we will hear the first ten Big artists and their songs. One of them could be the winner and the Italian Eurovision entrant for Vienna 2015. There has been a change in the original plan of the evenings and the newcomers aka Nuove proposte won't have their first elimination tonight but only tomorrow and Thursday. They will be presented during the night though. Tomight we have 50-50 televote and press center. There are 1306 accreditated journalists in the house.
Btw, the early reports tell the air in Sanremo has changed as everyone seem to be talking about Eurovision and even judging the songs based on how they would fit in the Eurovision mood! Now that's something unheard before. Arisa's comment yesterday that she's ready and willing should the winner refuse didn't go unnoticed! Il Volo seems to take lead in that sort of speculation, followed by Dear Jack and Chiara, Malika and Nek. We will know in a few days how this ends!
Today in the press conference Carlo Conti was asked by Cristina, the OGAE Italy president if this Eurovision connection played any role in his song selection and he said no. Then she asked if there are any songs especially suitable for Eurovision he said all. Fair enough. Yesterday also the Sanremo Red Carpet took place and above you can see Nina Zilli fabulously suitable for the event (photos from VF) and here below Lara Fabian and Raf, the other two Eurovision veterans.
Below is the possible running order for tonight. If so, it looks good for Chiara. In 2013 Marco Mengoni was first out with L'Essenziale and we know how that ended. Last year Arisa was out first, but with Lentamente, followed then by her winning entry Controvento. This year the Big have only one song again.
