Sanremo 2012: Tonight the international night

Tonight in Sanremo the Artisti will duet with other mainly international stars performing Italian classic songs that have made Italian music famous all over the world. Meanwhile the audience dropped the second night to 11,6 million (37%). Let's see how these international stars manage to attract people infront of their tvs.
Nina Zilli with Skye from Morcheeba - Never never never (Grande grande grande)
A song made famous by Mina in 1972 and later by Shirley Bassey. Also Luciano Pavarotti dueted with Celine Dion with this one.

Samuele Bersani with Goran Bregovic - My sweet Romagna  (Romagna mia)
This is originally from 1954 and written by Secondo Casadei. Checco Marsella has arranged this new version where Romagna region meets Balcan.

Dolcenera with Professor Green - My life is mine (Vita spericolata)
Vasco Rossi's hit from 1983 that was released in English by Thelma Houston in 1994.

Pierdavide Carone, Lucio Dalla and Mads Langer - Anema e gore
A Napoletan classic from 1950, also recorded by Cliff Richard and Perry Como amongst others. This version is based on the Michael Bubblé one.

Irene Fornaciari with Brian May (Queen) - I who have nothing (Uno dei tanti)
A hit by Joe Sentieri in 1961, then recorded by Ben E. King, Tom Jones, Joe Cocker, Liza Minnelli, Status Quo but this will be a new version arranged for the occasion by Brian May himself.

Emma with Gary Go - If paradise was half as nice (Il paradiso della vita/Il paradiso)
This was a no hit by Ambra Borelli but made it big in the UK by Amen Corner. And Patty pravo heard that one and made it in hit in Italy in 1969.

Matia Bazar with Al Jarreu - Speak softly love
The love theme of the movie The Godfather in 1972.

Noemi with Sarah Jane Morris - To feel in love (Amarsi un po')
This is a song by Lucio Battisti and he actually made the first version himself in 1977 for the album Images, an English language album made for the US market.

Francesco Renga with Sergio Dalma - El mundo (IL mondo)
Sergio Dalma we all know and he's been having a hit with this song just this winter so it shows how the Italian music still conquers new listeners even in 2010's. Ask Sergio, he has just released two albums full of Italian covers... Jimmy Fontana did this first in 1965, both in Spanish and in Catalan.

Arisa with José Feliciano - Que serà (Che sarà)
The runner up in Sanremo 1972 when Josè Feliciano himself sung it along with Ricchi e Poveri. A huge hit in Spanish, too. Feliciano, a New Yorker from Puerto Rico made this song an anthem for the immigrants and was forbidden in Cuba.

Chiara Civello with Shaggy - You don't have to say you love me (Io che non vivo senza te)
From Sanremo 1965, this only came 7th but Dusty Springfield made it a worldwide hit later recorded by Elvis Presley and countless other artists. One of this blogger's all time favourite songs btw!

Gigi D'Alessio, Loredana Bertè and Macy Gray - Flame (Almeno tu nell'universo)
This was supposed to be Nina Hagen but now all of sudden it is Macy Gray. I can't but feel disappointed. Loredana gets to sing her sister's, late Mia Martini's classic from 1989. The song was actually written already back in 1972! Thelma Houston recorded this English version in 1994.

Eugenio Finardi with Noa - Surrender (Torna a Surriento)
Noa needs no presentation and she is very familiar with the Italian song book having performed and recorded many many songs. This song was written in 1902 in honor of the president who was visiting town wishing him to return soon. And give Sorrento a postal office!

Marlene Kuntz with Patti Smith - The world became the world (Impressioni di Settembre)
A song by PFM from 1974.

Besides these performances there will the decision of the two eliminated Artisti that will go back to the final's line up. And they were as expected the two duets, Gigi D'Alessio & Loredana Berté and Pierdavide carone & Lucio Dalla. The elimated by the jury have a history doing very well in the final's televote so we cannot rule these two out at all.

As for the duets, I thought no one could ever ruin IO che non vivo but indeed someone can. Shaggy. Horrid performance. Almost a sacrilegio! And Macy gray certainly wasn't at her best last night either. Shame Nina Hagen wasn't there! But Arisa with José Feliciano was very emotional moment.... fantastic! And do we want to talk about the queen of the night, Noa? (Or was it Patti Smith?)

Wanna see it all in ten minutes? Here.

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

Regina Lund - naked and censored

Regina Lund's new video Jag är osynlig was censored by Youtube only minutes after it had been uploaded. In the video she was playing a female Jesus who gets crusified in the end. "I was shocked!" she says. "There's nothing more naked in it as in every church! It's ok to have naked man hanging on the wall but my nakedness is too much on internet? ". Oh well, no comment. She's prepairing a new album Dare Regina Lund and we of course remember her from her Melodifestivalen 2007 adventure with Rainbow star .

SONGS OF THE YEAR 2015: #5 KRISTA SIEGFRIDS - ON & OFF

Krista Siegfrids is delivering nice pop tunes one after another and this one is particularly catchy and soon you will be singing along..... Hopefully her Melodifestivalen entry will be equally good!

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

CAROLA'S BOOBS STEAL THE SHOW, SVT APOLOGIES

Update! Another thing got Swedes talking last night: Carola's boobs when she was giving away an award. This is not the first time her boombs cause headlines; her misfortunate adventures in the 80's in Japan wer explained with her boobs being too big for Japanese market. Ok.... Or was it the song ? Anyways, Carola apologies and says she thinks the dress is stylish and elegant (even her friends said so) and she's a mature woman in her 40s, not a 16-year-old girl and looks like one. The Swedish Oscars, Guldbagge awards were given out last night. Carola was there as a guest star to sing Barbra Streisand's The way we were when honoring the movie stars who passed away during 2012. However, the cameras were too much on Carola, not on the stars showed in photos in the background and that upset many viewers as that part of the show was to celebrate them, not Carola. Oh well...  The producer of the show tells in Aftonbladet the part of the show was made the sam

JEDWARD GETS NAKED FOR THE FANS

Well, almost. The boys celebrated their 650.000th follower on Twitter by being photographed fresh from shower as promised. It's not the first time they drop their clothes as you see here . Meanwhile their second album is nearly here and the title track Young love is hitting the charts....

TIM SCHOU AND HIS NAKED GRAVITY

Tim Schou has a pretty good solo career going since he left his friends in London. He's travelling the world and relesing songs and videos. The latest one is a great track and comes with a steamy video that kinda takes away from the song really. But who's complaining. If you got it, flaunt it. Enjoy the video below. This post coming after the other Dane, Rasmus Seebach as wishlist for Eurovision. To think about it, Tim would do nicely, too. Maybe he should give it another go?

MÅNS ZELMERLÖW GETS NAKED FOR THE GOOD CAUSE

Reigning Eurovision song contest champion and the host of the next contest in May 2016 in Stockholm Mäns Zelmerlöw bares it almost all in GT following some other Eurovision stars like Blue and Jedward ( see more here ) All for the good cause of course, prostate cancer - something this blogger can also relate having experienced it in my closest circle. Nothing to laugh about.  The annual Naked issue of GT or Gay Times features also several other celebrity men out of their designer fashion and stage or sports outfits. I guess Christmas came early to some fans when they can unwrap their most wished gift already now.... Maybe.  But it's not the first time he gets naked.... he did so when hosting the annual QX Gala some years ago. Who knows what he and Petra have in store for us in May?!

ITALY: ALICE 70 - 'A CCHIÙ BELLA

To honor and remember Giuni Russo who passed away 20 years ago today's pick is Alice's cover of a song in Napoletan Giuni Russo and Maria Antonietta Sisini composed to a poem by Totò. The song first appeared recorded on Giuni's album Napoli che canta in 2004, five months before her passing. Alice later took it to her repertoire and it appears first on her 2009 live album Lungo la strada, and then in her 2012 studio album Samsara.  Tu si 'a cchiù bella cosa Ca tene stu paese Tu si comm' a na rosa Rosa rosa maggese You are the most beautiful thing that has this country You are like a rose Rose fallow rose
