Ok, I had a very quick listen to the songs and generally it's quite interesting and good. Most of the songs sound like they have not been written for Eurovision but then some do and when you look at the writers it explains it in most cases. My quick faves were Saga Bloom, Bääbs and Janne Raappana. Saga has something I just like about her, Bääbs souns and looks interesting and that rough demo could turn into something really beautiful, and Janne Raappana's song is Finnish melancoly at its best. Jussi Hakulinen has (almost) written a new Joutsenlaulu.
Markus Ahola offers some Finntechno but is it strong enough? No, me thinks. Aia obviously includes the writers, Taikapeili girls Hanna-Riikka Siitonen and Nina Tapio as their voices cover pretty much everybody else. Sister Twister I liked already when they did Junior MGP and they are very catchy and likable now, too. Juhana Suninen has a beautiful song and Alessandro Safina for example could make wonders with it. Blackstream is quite funny and catchy and Blackbird very sweet and simple, fragile in a French way. But we have more songs that make me think of French fragility: Camilla Petra as Carla Bruni and Sofia Järnström as Vanessa Paradis (songwise). Then we have Daisy Jack as Anonymous + a girl, Linn Nygård as Natalia Barbu, Geir Rönning as himself and Villieläin as Nightwish. Ok, I know it's not fair and maybe even not right but I'm talking about first impressions here and I as the next guy like to compare and categorize.
Sonja Bishop didn't live up to my expectations (loved Should I run, should I hide), Captain Cougar sounds interesting but Jukka Kuoppamäki? No thanks. Nothing personal but wrong forum. Same goes for Paul Oxley but at least his song is pretty. Rock'n Roll Sensation offers this year's pantyhose schlager-heavy but needs a better vocalist to stand out, U.O.M.A. was just uninteresting, Roni Tran left no trace whatsover and Laura Sippola, too.
Who do we have left? Some rather anonymous songs, likes that used to fill national selections (and still do in many parts) in the 1990's: Saara Aalto, Anttilas, Marcus Granfors, Janne Hurme, Pauliina Kumpulainen, Netta, Sanna-Mari Titov. But everything can change with further listenings :-)
