EUROVISION 2025: COMMENTS BASED ON JURY FINAL - AND PREDICTION

As the Jury show was leaked in full (sigh) and I couldn't resist watching it once (or maybe twice in parts) during the Saturday afternoon as warm up for tonight's grand final it's a good excuse to share some impressions and opinions. And a prediction.

First of all it was very nice and nostalgic to an old fart like me to hear and see again on stage Io senza te, one of my all time favorite Eurovision entries, as well as Canzone per te, a song that I still remember by heart and also Cinema that I remembered surprisingly well even if I never was a huge fan. Only proves the fact that when you are young your memory works so easily! The opening was nice playing on the Nemo's broken trophy but the final line delivered by Sandra could have been delivered a bit funnier somehow.

Sandra is doing solid job while Hazel is letting it loose. Michelle is a nice add to the final line up as and I just love this grandmother (!!!) and her sense of humor I can excuse her Volare as well. That was a pure example of Italian entertainment television. In good and in bad. So sad she didn't blow the alp horn herself in the end later in the show!

In this jury final most everyone seemed to deliver, some more than others. Tommy Cash managed to come across kinda likable and his smile in the end tells it all; he's human after all and broke away from the role for a few seconds. JJ seemed a bit excited and had one mistake just before going to the up beat part. Greece gives heavy 1944 vibes. And the costume change is the best and most surprising of many this evening. Not so sure what I think about the break BEFORE and AFTER Sweden though....

Without being patriotic the longest applause was for Erika Vikman after Finland. And she really gave an excellent performance in every little detail from winks to finger pointing. In fact the audience was shouting "Erika! Erika! Erika!" in true Käärijä style in Liverpool 2023! Sandra and Hazel has some trouble getting back to their thing - promoting the CD and DVD -  over the shouts. Great response also to Switzerland, Portugal and Sweden.
And Käärijä was there with Baby Lasagna and stole the show with their mash up and new joint single Euro dub. Few minutes of pure solid fun. And yes, it's Käärijä's third year in a row in Euroviison stage!

I have written about the stage before and yes, I love it. One of the best ever. The back LED looks beautiful most of the time and the arch gives variety and different angles to performances. Some use it better than others though.

The voting rehearsal with Hazel's comments was pure comedy. Let's see how much of that we will have in the live final. I suspect not so much as she was really going loose. There were a lot of hick ups, as there were delays with the props during the whole show but that's why there are rehearsals. There was a long pause between the Dutch postcard and performance for example.

I wasn't quite prepared for Nemo showing so much skin in their performance. Another "unexplainable" outfit and look choice.

*** So, the prediction ***

With a twist. I have grouped the songs in random order in 5s and bottom 6. Let's see how this goes!
The most uncertain I'm about Italy and San Marino but I am optimistic. The biggest surprise could be though Portugal. And Netherlands if it flops. Armenia's qualification was already a surprise but it really works on stage, so...? They manages to create this captivating 3 minutes from nothing really.

Top-5:
Austria, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, France
6th to 10th:
Estonia, Israel, Netherlands, Italy, Albania
11th to 15th:
Luxembourg, Ukraine, Greece, Malta, San Marino
16th to 20th:
Iceland, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Armenia
21st to 26th:
Lithuania, Spain, UK, Germany, Denmark, Norway

UPDATE: Well, that didn't go well, did it?  That was the most insane votin I have ever witnessed starting already with the juries: I mean don't they have some rules to follow somehow? They were voting neighbours as any televoter and giving 12s to Germany for example - the poor girl didn't hi one note I think.... Oh well....

SONGS OF THE YEAR 2015: #5 KRISTA SIEGFRIDS - ON & OFF

Krista Siegfrids is delivering nice pop tunes one after another and this one is particularly catchy and soon you will be singing along..... Hopefully her Melodifestivalen entry will be equally good!

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

ESC 2015 SERBIA: BOJANA GOES POLYGLOT AND RELEASES A NEW VIDEO AND REMIX

Serbian Bojana Stamenov hasn't been having beauty sleeps while prepairing for Vienna. She has just released a new proper video replacing the previous fans featuring beauty video , right after she has given us Spanish ( El mundo bajo mis pies ) and French ( Le monde est à moi ) versions of the song! And an Autobahn remix that is kinda fabulous! Busy girl! PS. I still think the original Ceo svet je moj takes the prize! Oh WAIT! There's yet another version: Die ganze Welt is mein ! And that's something else ....

Boobs for summer: Samantha vs Sabrina!

The old rivals have put their bras (or the lack of them) in peace and entered the studios together to record Blondie's boombastic Call me . Life could be worse.....

CAROLA'S BOOBS STEAL THE SHOW, SVT APOLOGIES

Update! Another thing got Swedes talking last night: Carola's boobs when she was giving away an award. This is not the first time her boombs cause headlines; her misfortunate adventures in the 80's in Japan wer explained with her boobs being too big for Japanese market. Ok.... Or was it the song ? Anyways, Carola apologies and says she thinks the dress is stylish and elegant (even her friends said so) and she's a mature woman in her 40s, not a 16-year-old girl and looks like one. The Swedish Oscars, Guldbagge awards were given out last night. Carola was there as a guest star to sing Barbra Streisand's The way we were when honoring the movie stars who passed away during 2012. However, the cameras were too much on Carola, not on the stars showed in photos in the background and that upset many viewers as that part of the show was to celebrate them, not Carola. Oh well...  The producer of the show tells in Aftonbladet the part of the show was made the sam...

UK: Naked Blue

The boys of Blue have posed nude again. This time for the Attitude magazine's annual Naked issue and they are also in the cover. Watch the video of the shooting here . Band member Duncan, who is bi-sexual, recently told The Daily Star : “We are getting our kit off for Attitude magazine like the McFly boys did. I’m up for showing everything off. I’m happy enough about the size of my manhood. ” Extra media attention won't hurt their changes in Germany to win it for the UK for the first time since 1997... They will and they can!

FRANCE: LINH - J'AVOUE

As I'm off to France for some well deserved holidays and will get back to this blog afterwards I will feature a song a day. From France as my travelling tradition goes. By my favorite French singers bien sur. Enjoy!

FINLAND: REMEMBERING KIRKA

Russia recycles the video

Here is the video for Alexey's previous hit Бам Бам! and here is the video for his Eurovision 2011 entry Get you as Alex Sparrow as he likes to be called now abraod. Looks like he potreys the new rich Russia well....  The only problem is that he can't play the bad part convincingly not even a second. And did I say the song is crap? And of course as he is a Russian star he must have nude fotos of him flotaing around internet trying to be sexy and he fails there, too, big time. If you are not bad nor sexy you shouldn't push it. Maybe he should stick to singing jolly little numbers like the Kalinka rip off instead....
