Finally Raiven did it. After placing 2nd in 2016 with Črno bel, 3rd in 2017 with Zažarim and again 2nd in 2019 with Kaos. This time RTVSLO picked her internally with Veronika. There was indeed an open call for songs and approx 100 were received and a national final planned as well. That was canceled and December 12, 2023 it was announced Raiven was internally selected instead. The song Veronika was revealed on january 20, 2024 and it is co-written by last year's Joker Out's Bojan, Käärijä's loved side kick.
Raiven or Sara Briški Cirman (27) is a Slovenian singer, songwriter and harpist. She has studied classical music, before mentioned harp, and opera. She has won several awards in that field and has performed in several operas in Berlin, Prague, Tirana, Ljubljana, Brno, Budapest and Malta. She has also done musicals.
She has released one album, two EPs and more than a dozen singles.
In Global fashion Awards she won Regional Fashion Icon award in 2022 on top of everything.
So, what do I think? I haven't been the biggest Raiven fan over the years but she certainly has her own thing going on which is always a plus. Veronika isn't bad and I kinda enjoy it, I just tend to forget it exists and it stand somewhere between the songs I like and the songs I don't like, in the indifference in between. The video is also quite a visual slap in your face that kinda distracts from the song itself. This said it's better when only heard.
In our Home Jury Slovenia scored pretty well with mostly 6's and 7's.
