The circus has started and the first eight countries have rehearsd for the first time. The stage looks nice and cozy, just as they promised. The artists were asked to wear their stage dresses already to see how they will look like and most everyone did so. Austrian Natália Kelly was one of those who didn't. She will have five backing vocalists with her doing a joint choreography behind her. Estonian Birgit needs to work on her dress yet as it's flowing all over the place - maybe not the best choice for a pregnant woman walking on catwalk and in dry ice supported by her three male backing singers, but it does look amazing. Slovenian Hannah and her team of two Danish female backing singers and three hunky male dancers are doing a complicated routine on stage but Hannah pulls it off well even if it all includes catwalk and very high heals. Croatian sextet of men keeps it essential in their performance, wearing a traditional costume. The biggest favorite as yet, Danish Emmelie De Forest does pretty much the same performance as in the Danish selection with her two drummer boys and three backing singers. She's barefoot of course. Huge curtain of pyros completes this performance (Azerbaijan 2011 anyone?) Russian Dina Garipova follows without her semifinal dress and bubbles on stage. Also her backing singers are dressed casually so we don't know yet how this will look in the end. Next is an Ukrainian beauty Zlata and her beast, Igor (242 cm tall according eurovision.tv) with size 62 shoes! Now who can fill those shoes? A fantastic shounding backing vocalist are with her on stage and Ukraine is set to impress the audience again.... Is Zlata the new Céline Dion? Last but not least today Anouk for the Netherlands. If anyone doubted her chances she's back in game and stronger than ever. Professional and heart felt all through. And she has the most wonderful backing singer ever!
So, Eurovision 2013 has started with a bang. All seemed to work out fine today and most everyone is happy with the outcome. Now it's party time, Eurocafe is waiting!
See you folks tomorrow! (Watch all the videos and photos on here, in eurovision.tv)
